On the highway at 75 mph I can get almost 22. If I always drove on the highway, my average would be a lot higher. In reality I spend most of my time slowing down or speeding up and my overall average is about 16-17 mpg. Still pretty good, in my opinion.
We are 1300 miles into a 2000 mile round trip towing and averaging almost 12 towing at 68 mph with a 32 foot travel trailer. My father-in-law is towing a slightly different model, 31 foot travel trailer that is about the same weight with his Chevy 6.0 and getting about 8 on the same roads and conditions.
I'm blown away with how fuel efficient the Cummins is. If I had known, I would have gotten one years ago!!!
