Not at all... just have a hard time with Hypocrites! Or was it, I enjoy giving Hypocrites a hard time? :p

I had the banks 12 valve split intake on my 98 and removed the silencer ring don't think they did a thing to make power. Intake looked cool and the missing ring sounded cool. Also did the big air filter, added more turbo noise but no more power. Truck on dyno hit 300hp and 750TQ all because of custom fuel plate, bigger injectors and timing nothing else.

IMHO a huge waste of money.

****, I am on a date tonight with the wife and I have to respond to your ignorant BS. How is that you cannot get that taking a silencer meant to quite the intake is in no way shape or form as taking an emissions divice and illegally making it spew more emission that is lawfully allowed. Honestly, I can see why this forum even allows you to spread your BS since doing so can be counted as an unlawful act act against this forum itself but that is their perogative. Again, LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DELETING AND EMISSIONS DEVICE THAT EFFECTS OTHERS AND DELETING A SILENCER THAT DOES NOT EFFECT ANYONE BUT THE DRIVER.

I have never once said removing the silencer has anything to do with emissions, its your statement that removing it for the "cool sound" and "more power"... the "more power" is what I am pointing out to you, as you have said in other posts produces more NOx. Its you that has chastised others for "modding" or "wanting to mod", modding according to your preaching even to get better mileage will produce more NOx.

Again, modding to increase horse power, torque or increased mileage according to you will increase NOx. I'm calling you a hypocrite for making statements that a increase in power increases NOx, and anyone who does it, is an idiot. But its ok for you to "mod" your truck. Your the one who said you want the noise and more power. Its in the very first sentence in your opening post on this subject! Gee buz! I thought you might be an engineer, but maybe not, as most engineers finally get the idea after the 2nd or 3rd picture! :R

No, it doesn't. As I told you before, learn how these emissions systems operate and what causes an engine to produce more NOx before you talk because it is very clear by this statement that you don't. Removing this tube for less intake air resistance or even adding a DPF back exhaust WILL NOT increase emissions of the truck.

Again, if you knew how these emissions systems operated then you would know that which is why I keep telling you to go learn before you speak just like the last thread where you kept telling me a diesel has a three-way catalyst and we went through 2 pages of a thread before you finally realized you were incorrect.

No. I didn't chastise others for modding. I chastised them for removing emissions equipment when they modded. You can add more power to an engine while still keeping your emissions systems and not increasing the amount of emissions the truck produces.

And I am calling you ignorant on the subject because you can't seem to understand how these emissions systems work or that you don't have to delete emissions equipment to produce more power.

Seriously guy, learn what creates NOx in an engine and how these emissions systems remove PM and NOx. I am sure that when you do then you will see the error in what you are stating here.

Yeah, I will agree with you there, but it was the only video I can find on youtube of the removal. Most engine and filter manufacturers will tell you that you run a higher risk of getting more dirt in your engine when you change the air filter than any other time.

I know that leaning out an engine will create more NOx. At what point can the fuel system not keep up with air intake volume and what are the limits of the DEF dosing to counteract higher NOx production?

This question is not to slight anyone but things I think about. I know how much jetting changes on my old 4-strokes with carburetors when I swap different intakes, filters, headers and mufflers and wonder what range these automated systems really have before you need swap other parts to compensate for changes in flow.

Shinner, enlighten me and perhaps others how the DPF works, don't forget to include how the NOx emissions almost double when regenerating or how the EGR system, both on the exhaust and the injection events, add soot and raw fuel to the engines oil and how that increases the shear stability of the oil or how the added soot clogs up oil journals. Or how EGR and DPF systems cause a 20-30% increase in fuel consumption... and JFI my 2005 ram 3500 that I "modded" did not have DPF or Urea from the factory, and we all know Cats don't remove NOx worth a sh#t. So, again tell us how increasing power which is not going to increase NOx?

And just to clear up a few misconceptions for some on here.

Just because you don't roll coal DOES NOT mean your truck engine is clean. That's like saying my big block I race is in perfect tune and does not smoke so therefor it is a "clean engine." Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact a "detuned engine" will be waaaaaay cleaner (NOX wise) than a really good running, well tuned lean burn engine.

There are several types of pollutants that come out of an engine. For a diesel two of the big ones are particulate matter (the black soot you see) and NOX (the stuff you can't see). Both are bad.

Since diesels at cruise or idle are a lean burn engine, they put out a lot of NOX. That's why when tuners really get an efficient burn on the diesel engine the NOX goes sky high but you pick up some mileage. The burn is great and the mileage is great but the pollution is sky high.

When you put a lot of fuel to a diesel to make power without the air to clean things up, they put out a lot of particulate matter. This is also bad but for a different reason as SB has pointed out.

In short there are several types of pollution: Some you can see with your eyes and some you can't see with your eyes. Just because the tune on your truck's diesel engine does not roll coal does not mean it's clean smog wise.

So a diesel bomber rollin coal down route 66 leavin a trail of thick black smoke a mile long is ok, but a truck rollin next to him with no smoke is bad... right. That guy rollin smoke ain't getting enough air and is spewing NOx. Show some data on NOx emissions from guys rollin smoke vs guys with clear exhaust.
