6 Door Excursion

This weekend I saw a 6 door Ford Excursion. It was a very clean, nicely done conversion. The owner said he got it in Oklahoma from Custom Autos By Tim. The owner said they were a family of 6 kids and also often had foster children. They used 15-passenger vans for a long time and just didn't like the 'tin can on wheels' feeling (his words). So, they searched around and found these Excursion conversions which gave them seating for 11.

This one looks similar to his:

At first the truck caught me off guard. It had been a really long day and I had to stop of a minute to realize there were 2 rear doors instead of 1. Once that sunk in I talked with him for a bit and got the low-down on the conversion company. He said he's used the truck for several years and it's been completely problem free outside of normal wear and tear items.

They'll probably be able to continue once the new Expeditions enter production and they can order spare bodies. They can't do 2017s because the SuperDuty switched to the new F150 body, and the current Expy is still based on the '03 F150 body!
  • It looks very nice. I suspect it has a 6.0L diesel in it though. I have always thought about buying a cherry Limited Excursion with a 7.3L but they are rare and pricey. :(
