Thx for all your responses ... I'm sure the pilot is just fine with the flame ... When running the flame that heats the water runs well too ... There are really only two things that can faulted an easy system like this ... Thermocouple or the thermostat unit ... Unfortunately the "jade" thermocouples here in Canada are still $80 plus tax ... As mentioned earlier I did not test thermocouple under load ... So maybe a generic unit from homedepot might test that ... Otherwise a nice 30 min drive to US border might be need for the thermostat ... $73US in Niagara Falls ... Here I just got quotes $195.99 plus tax & $279.99 plus tax in the Hamilton area.
