An electric lift pump and an intercooler will REALLY wake up a pre-99 PSD. It's a night and day difference, feels like a different truck! If the trans is original...well first, I'm stunned! A trans built to basically stock 2002 4R100 specs (which was 275HP) will work fine. My friend tuned his 97 (F-250HD SC/LB 4x4) a couple years ago and his only regrets are not doing it sooner & breaking his grille installing the intercooler. He will do a trans soon, but it has almost 200,000 miles since the rebuild. (Truck has ~290K.)
