I agree with 12V it’s gotta be a deezul if it’s going to tow. Maybe we gotta shrink the cooling system. 60% of our fuel’s energy is lost to heat either out the exhaust or into the cooling system. What if we could run some sort of super hot highly pressurized coolant through a nozzle that would spin a turbine coupled to a generator that could recapture that energy and feed it to electric motors at the wheels?

Speaking from first hand experience, with as poor of MPG as the EcoBoost gets towing, I can't imagine how bad this engine would suck fuel under load.

It sounds pretty fun, IMO something to go stupid fast in and compete with the Ram TRX. Can't imagine it as a serious towing motor (the heat problem like Shiner mentioned) but it could be the Ford engineers are smarter than us.:B

The way that engine is built it should be able to handle quite a bit of boost.

Somehow I doubt the story or it's really for something like the Raptor and not applicable to heavy duty towing.

A modest turbo boost could push the engine north of 600hp and boost the low end torque (not that the stock NA numbers are bad). It would also negate high altitude power loss...but this would largely negate the advantages of buying a big diesel:
- If it comes with the same price as the diesel, I don't see many converts.
- If it comes in thousands less than the diesel, you undercut the profitable diesel sales.

Where is the sales advantage in super duty trucks intended for heavy duty towing?

As long as it’s reliable ide buy one.
