$75 on a truck that lasted 38 years

Different strokes for different folks. There are many people who trade as soon as the ashtray is full (so to speak). Then this guy who keeps his forever! Which person is the most eccentric ?? This guy probably has more $$ in his pockets I'll bet. He did change his oil 4 times a year. I've had my '93 Suburban for 15 years now. Hmmm...

I repeat, that truck is dangerous! just look at the passenger door. it barely closes! anyone that thinks that just because he only drives 1.5 miles to work with it so it`s OK is crazy. by that thinking then it must be OK to tow overweight for short distances also! I drive 1.5 miles to work also, but even I wouldn`t put a truck like that on the road.

This guy has a few screws loose.....and I`m not talking about the truck!

That may be why the truck lasted so long. The inspection idiots have caused far more damage to my vehicles than normal wear.

Dated a girl from Minn. Found out they have no inspection law out there. Made me feel safe knowing people are driving hunk of junks that shouldn't be on the road.

I kind of doubt he put anyone in ((grave danger)). I doubt that thing has even seen a highway in several decades. There is a big difference in driving in some small po-dunk town then driving where you live.

I'm way more worried about the fools in new trucks pulling way over-loaded at highway speeds where I actually drive.

I looked up the specs for the 57 Chevy truck 123 HP 210 ft lb torque 235.5 CI .

I have to laugh. I don't doubt that all he has had to put in is 1k in parts. Has one fan belt to pwr waterpump and generator 2 radiator hoses maybe a couple of u-joints. Maybe some front end parts and brakes. Maybe some plugs points/ condenser plug wires. Nothing there very high dollar. I doubt the old six had much more then 100 HP, not to hard on running gear.

Maybe not applicable to you but most people drive beaters because they have to.

Harsh group........Just because that truck may be ratty on the outside doesnt mean it isnt mechanically sound. I am not sure about the $1000 maintenance claim, but keeping a simple truck like that on the road isnt that hard. I have driven beaters most of my life doing all my own maintenance...Some of us enjoy that sort of thing.
