May not be the Fram filter...did you run your 8.1L very hard before
you noticed the reduced PSI?
I've changed out a charge of Mobil 1 5-30W & PureOne filter after about 500 miles
My 7.4L at +163K miles does not consume oil. Never did...but one time after a
very hard run up to Lake Tahoe with the gang...
On the way back...noticed that my oil PSI was fluctuating and at home down a quart
Knew the oil was beat up and changed both oil and filter. PSI was back to normal
at startup. This was back at around 100K miles
At idle and up to temp (have a 180* stat with a 1/32" dia hole drilled in the flange)
It is now just a hair below 40 at +163K miles
