811 vs 855S

Would anyone like to compare the Arctic Fox 811 to the Lance 855S. I know the 811 is heavier but it has larger tanks and fridge and it appears that the 811 is a little cheaper. I'll be putting it on a 1 ton short bed truck that I'm currently shopping for.

The only comment I can make is that folks on this board have been reporting issues with removing and or using the AF off the truck with full Fresh water tanks. It would appear that the floor needs support to handle the load of all that water. It could be one of the reasons lance uses smaller tanks to allow for full unsupported of the truck use.

This has not been an issue with our AF811.

In addition to the Eagle Cap 850, add the Adventurer 86SBS to your list of TC's to check out:

The tanks are hung in AF camper so it shouldn't make a difference on or off the camper. (I know one person "blew up" his tank by over pressurizing it)

    How did he do that?

  • Welcome, I would add Eagel Cap 850 to your research also, has larger tanks than Lance, and can be used off the truck.
Bigger bath and dinette than the AF is what sold us.
Cost was somewhere between AF and Lance in our research when we upgraded last Fall...

    Good luck, Bill

  • We have an '05 Arctic Fox 860. Love it. Haul it with a 1 ton Dually, 2008 F-350 short bed. Very pleased with the set up. The Arctic Fox has been good to us.
