It has been years (2004) since I purchased my Polar Cub. During my search, I discovered most there were several different models on the shelves. I had to go to a couple of places, look at the unit on the pallet just to find it was not the 9000 series I wanted. Most places quoted me specs, availability, and prices from their catalog. When I insisted they look at the unit, I found several did not match their catalog. I eventually found my best price at Camping World, however, when I ask the clerk to verify (long story) the model, they discovered they had a 7000 btu unit, not 9000. They did get me a 9000 btu unit.
When pricing a Polar Cub, I found that several distributors had different methods. The most common was they quoted a price for the A/C. When they write it up, they ask if you wanted the inside piece (controls, directional vents, etc.). When I ask if you could run the A/C without it, the answer was no. They typically wanted to jack the price up 150 to 200 dollars. Camping World was straight, $600 for the "complete" unit, plus $50 additional if you wanted the heat strip at time of purchase. To add it later would be $150.
When you get a quote, make sure it includes the complete unit, inside and outside parts.
