i'm getting alot of info saying that coleman doesnt make the polar cub (the one that draws only 8.5amp anymore, so if the "new" 9200 models draw 11.5amps and the honda eu2000i is rated for 13.3amps. according to these specs then they should pair up, correct?

I haven't been around the 9000BTU roof units but my 2KW Honda runs my 8000BTU house Window unit just fine.Sometimes our kids like to follow us to the local beach camping and they setup their tents. They bring along a house window unit 5000BTU air conditioner and setup on shipping crates just outside their tent and they run just fine on the 2KW Generator as well...I don't think my generator would mind the 8AMP draw. I suspect however there will be more amps on the initial startup to overcome. On my roof mounted 13,500 unit if I turn off everything around the trailer I have got my air conditioner to start up. It does trip the breaker on me everytime however when it tries to recycle hehe..Roy Ken

I m in the same boatMy honda manual says rated amp=13.3 rated output = 1600VA max out put = 2000VA amps = watts divided by volts 2000 div by 120 = 16.666That would be for short bursts It would start and run using those numbers , but not probably in eco mode , not probably running a converter , not probably at elevation , might be a problem with compresser head pressue at restartI dont have a newer cub , but dont want to buy one to see if it worksIts clear to me its not going to work as older polar cubs Ive had didIf I had a popup and higher profile was a concern I would buy a new PC and a bigger genI dont and I own a honda 2000 so Im going with the mach 1 psThe only reason I didnt buy one last spring was I found out Coleman was changing the compressor to one that draws .2 amps less, and I was waiting for it to come out, I`ll have one before summerI checked around and thats the lowest amp rooftop AC made that I foundI hear some are made for semi`s but are very expensiveIve also been keeping an eye on craigs list and have looked at recyclers I guess theres a chance some distributer has a dusty 9201 on the shelf , I dont know if they could sell it since it has old non epa freon I have expressed my desire to RVP Coleman that they make a low profile ,low amp Ac again. Seems like since they have compressors that draw 6.6 amps as in the mach 1 they could do it , maybe if they heard there was more intrest from tc owners

I really never gave this any thought but ......maybe they installed a factory 'hard start capacitor' . Why would Polar Cub mfg. a new 9200 that would not work using a 2k portable genny ? They are well aware that everyone under the sun uses 2k gen's to operate them . My dealer is willing to install one for me and he knows i'll be using it with a 2k gen.
