Terrific Report. We have Bristol on our bucket list. A few years ago while on a trip along the west coast, Linda encouraged me to call for the price of a site in the infield carousel at Infinion road course in Sonoma Valley, California. The price was way beyond our budget. Dave at the race course office asked me if I was a veteran. We were given a complimentary camp site, track side with a "Thanks for your service". During the financial slump there were vacant sites and Nascar offered them to us rather than have them empty.
We were surrounded by big and very expensive class A's. Some of the owners came over to look at the only TC in campground. "I bet you get good mileage. You can park anywhere, can't you. How'd you get your wife to go for the little camper?" Were the questions they asked. We had a great time. Stayed till Monday morning, they also gave us two tickets to the grandstands if we tired of watching from our roof.
The driver that Lance supplied with a TC was Stirling Marlin. He was rather contemptuous of it, did little to promote the product. Lance stopped his participation, wisely. Marlin has been retired for several years. He was more of an amusing character than a champion driver IMHO. We are both fans of auto racing, when we were younger we participated in SCCA (amateur sports car) races. It's still in our blood.
The TC was excellent at the race track, we hope to do it again. Maybe at Taladega, or the Watkins Glen Road Course.
