Can't even imagine a 5'er ... not after TC camping.
We kept our Van (and a tent) first, then the TC, and the kids slept and dressed in a tent. We didn't spend much time IN it anyway, and always had a X-cab for TC hauling family once the Van became a back-up camping vehicle ...
Worked very well for a few years, enough years ... then the "kids" started camping a la carte (in the same Van), and we went back to just a couple, still in TC.
Those Safari/Astro AWD Vans were awesome, and I still will never understand why a vehicle that versatile stopped production. I know, I know, GM didn't make its numbers -- but it was still the best of the best in small Vans ... 196,000 miles and it still camps!
