A highway bridge at 7 ft., 7 in. -- what could go wrong?

The police said that the driver of this charter bus was not familiar with the restrictions on this parkway:

But isn't this a design failure? If you are towing your trailer and you are from out of town, how are you supposed to know that there is this bizarre low bridge ahead of you?

Maybe there is an app that will provide a warning, but that means that unless you have a passenger with a smartphone, you either have to take your chances or try to operate the phone while towing, a really bad idea.

Seriously. What to do? Are very low bridges still around? I have rarely seen anything under 13 feet, at least out West. Maybe things are different on the East Coast??
  • There is an app for that, it's called road signs. You can't fix stupid.
  • Traveling secondary/back roads almost exclusively we encountered 'Low Bridges/Trestles/Overpasses' many times.

Typically there was clear signage stating height and usually far enough in advance that an alternative route could be used.

Occasionally signage was lacking or was just prior/right at so we just turned around.

And if one KNOWS their height and PAYS ATTENTION then once again turn around

Lot more 'low heights' out east then in the west

    Our motto:
    IF IN DOUBT-TURN ABOUT

One MUST PAY ATTENTION regardless of where they are driving

4' height difference IS something one SHOULD easily recognize IF PAYING ATTENTION to their driving.......especially a 'professional driver'

Hummmmmmmmm.....somebody didn't pay attention to the 'signage'
