Not really. All loud pipes do is pizz of the people who have to put up with the racket and then enact noise abatement ordinances so when you buzz through making all the unnecessary noise, you get a ticket.
All loud pipes do is show your ignorance. Nothing more and if you are referring to a Harley, little back pressure equals reduced performance.
The louder it is, the slower it goes even though you' think' it's faster, not that any potato bike is fast in the first place.
