Just out of curiosity I just checked Seattle craigslist and there is an 04 1161 going for 16495 though that one has the on board genset, so I think we are at a good price for the 05 at 14500.
my first thought... you will get a much better deal... the '05 model was completely re-engineered with new materials (frame work) and all of the benifits of the 1161. I still think the price is OK and you'll get your moneys woth. You'll have it for a long time.
You might be able to find a used propane generator... some complain about the generac... I like ours just fine. It's a work horse... propane is very clean burning and thats nice.
After more than 800 nights traveling I had Johnnie Walker RV in Las Vegas replace my Generac's starter... they are certified mechanics for Generac... I'd contact them to see if they have any ideas on a used one.
I have a diesel duramax engine and don't have to haul gasoline. If your truck is gasoline can you tap its fuel tank for a gasoline generator if you added one with a remote start?
