Accident with tow vehicle right before big camping trip?

I'd go to Enterprise straight away and rent a Cummins on my dime. Let the insurance company deal with everything else and possibly coving the rental after the fact.

:) Hi, my neighbor has a Toyota Tacoma and it was hit in the rear and bent the frame down making his reciever un-usable. He tows a pop up tent trailer. He was only a few days from a trip planned a year in advance. I towed my 25' Airstream for over ten years with my 2000 Lincoln Navigator before I bought a new 2014 F-150. We were also going on a trip at the same time. I gave my neighbor the keys to my Navigator so he could still take his family camping.

Like a few others have said Enterprise has HD trucks. I got a price if $59 a day for a Ram 2500 BigHorn gasser. I thought about renting one for a camping trip as an extended test drive.
The just sold of a bunch of the a couple of months ago.

Are you sure? I explicitly asked my agent to look for a carrier and plan that would cover a vehicle capable of towing and he was not able to find one, his recommendation was to self-insure for the eventuality that I might have a breakdown or accident while on the road far from home.

Enterprise truck rental (NOT regular Enterprise locations!) will let you tow with a 2500 or 3500 rental. They're the only national chain other than U-haul that explicitly allows it in their contact, and unlike U-haul they rent crew cabs so you can take the family. If you have the ability to setup a business account Herc and United rentals are also options.

As far as insurance coverage, no mine does not have nearly a high enough daily limit on rental coverage to get a truck, though I could probably just do it and cover the difference.

My buddy hit a deer a week before a big family vacation. I loaned him my truck so he could still take his 5th wheel. It’s good to have friends.

Several years ago my DRW F-350 was severely damaged and the insurance paid for a truck I rented for 5 weeks while it was repaired at the rate of $100 per day.

Just a couple of weeks ago, think on I-85 in GA or SC, I saw a U-Haul It pickup towing a travel trailer. So, guess he(she) solved their problem. Wonder about a brake controller, tho.

Your insurance will do whatever you contract provides for.

Someone else's insurance will provide a rental but not a tow vehicle.
