Adding a 2nd 'Similar' but not Identical Battery?

If your trying to double up your capacity then by all means go grab another new group 24 batt and parallel them. Personally I have given up on "dealer" batteries and get them to leave them out of the deal. Going up in size to a group 27 or 31 or better yet pair of golf cart batts from Cosco is the best way to get longer life when dry camping. Before you spend good money on a second one...maybe decide if adding a second small battery is better than buying two of the largest deep cycles you can afford. You could probably sell off the new group 24 locally to fund a more robust system. Just some ideas.

The dealer is 45 mins away and I'm afraid of 'dealer' pricing. ie. double. But with that said I did email them asking for price. Just haven't heard back yet.

seems to me that you should be using deep cycle type batteries. one in your post shows amp hours, the other doesn't

As batteries age, their ability to charge diminishes. If both of your batteries are only a year in age apart, it would be a lot better than if they are several years apart.

In parallel, two batteries will only charge to the ability of the weakest battery.

What you could do is charge them separately, let them sit, and measure their standing voltage. Compare the two. Possibly use one battery, then when it goes low, use the other one.

Since your new trailer came with a new G24 why would you not just get a second of the same and be done with it? :h
