You might want to visit cumminsforum.com and search some Ram 2500/3500 integrated brake controller (IBC) threads. There are a number of complaints/comments about it producing insufficient voltage/current to effectively brake. Some folks are even purchasing aftermarket brake controllers to replace their Ram OEM IBC. I just purchased a new Ram 3500 which came from the factory with the IBC. Got my fingers crossed I don't have this issue.
I thought this was an issue with the pre 2011.5 models only. I think they changed them which corrected all of the issues. I have towed 2 different trailers (1 with electric drums and my current one with electric over hydraulic discs) and the IBC in my 2013 Ram works fantastic. It really does make the truck and trailer feel like one unit. There are even different settings in the set up menu for the different types of brakes.
I had a Prodigy in my last truck which was a Ford Superduty and it worked quite well too.
