- 45RicochetExplorerI thought everyone did it this way!
- TakingThe5thExplorerI've adjusted my mirrors this way for many years and agree that it works great once you get used to it. But I was having problems when I started pulling trailers and the 5fr because I couldn't see my trailer tires during left and right turns to make sure I was avoiding curbs, etc.
I also have convex mirrors on both sides and I re-purposed them to be able to see my trailer tires at all times, while turning or while straight. And when I the height adjustment is correctly adjusted I can see the cars alongside me as well.
Now, whenever I change lanes or make a turn I check both the regular and convex mirror for cars and the assurance that I'm clearing the curb (or whatever). - korbeExplorerSometimes I'll come up on a slower moving vehicle pulling a trailer and when I look to pass, I won't even see his driver's side mirror. That's a little scary that he doesn't even know I'm back there.
- APTExplorerThis is what I usually reference for mirror adjustment. There is no need to see an object directly behind you in 3 mirrors at the same time. And this method means those annoying blind spot monitoring lights that blink all the time on newer vehicles.
- jfkmkExplorerJeremiah,
I learned this method several years ago during a "safety minute" at a meeting for work. It takes a little getting used to, and at first you want to fight it. But, once you get used to it, there is no going back! It practically eliminates all blind spots. Thanks for sharing the tip!
