My last TT was 30 amp and for the most part everything was fine. I could run an additional 20 amp extension cord into the rig when needed and practice power management as required. Occasionally on really hot days in the open sun with no shade my A/C could not keep up. But for the most part everything was fine.
However my current RV is 50 amp. 50 amp will spoil you in a hurry. No need to practice any energy management techniques. No need to run an additional cord for the space heater. I can run 3 space heaters and an electric fireplace without worry. If it's super hot just turn on the 2nd A/C and let her rip. No need to turn water heater to gas to reduce electric consumption.
Just plug RV in and forget about it.
The 50 amp cords can be a beast however all 50 amp cords are not created equal.
I sold my stiff low budget OEM cord and purchased a more flexible 50 amp cord with the proceeds.
My 30 amp cord was permanently attached and had to be pushed/forced into the storage hole/cubby.
The 30 amp attached cord gave me just as many headaches as the 50 amp detachable cord.
I have come to appreciate/enjoy 50 amp service, and avoid 30 amp service if I have a choice. 50 amp service means I have one less thing to worry about.
