Lantley makes a good point. All cords are not equal. I have both a Camco and a Marinco and there is a world of difference in flexibility as well as overall quality. Marinco is more expensive than the OEM and/or Camco cords in that they remain fairly flexible in cold weather. They are made to be that way since they are the standard for the marine industry and well worth the extra money. I certainly would not allow a power cord to deprive me of the advantages of 50A service.
While true if you are buying a new trailer I really wonder if they trailer manufacturer is going to give you a premium 50A cord costing multiples of what they can provide with a cheaper less quality cord. We're not buying $500K yachts or even $200K Class A MHs here. One big factor that made me bypass a straight 50A upgrade and go the dual 30A service is that I already had the original detachable 30A cord and a second 30A 25' extension cord, both of which would be useless if I went the straight 50A upgrade route. Then throw in the premium 50A cord cost and things really start getting expensive when I priced them.
At least for me I'm completely happy with the current system I have.
