Adventurer 86SBS, Got one?

Having a hard time finding owners of this particular TC. Looking at a 2015 this weekend and would like to hear from anyone here with current experience. Good, the bad, the ugly just looking for some real owner experience. Much obliged!
  • We had a 90FWS rental for 2 weeks in 2013.
It was on an F350 6.2 SRW CCLB.
We loved the camper. Build quality was fine, as far as you can judge that in only two weeks.
Do you have any specific questions wrt the 86SBS? Or more general questions about Adventurer?

You must have dealt with FraserWay ... probably out of Cooksville ON? That's where we bought our used 2007 90FWS a few years ago. We love the floor plan and the TC has stood up well for us.
  • Fraserway, Airdrie north of Calgary.
It was a very good experience all around to rent from them.
  • I had a 2015 Adventurer 910db. I think they (Adventurer) are bang for your buck, decent rigs. That being said, i shopped 86sbs. They are small, but nice. My biggest problem was the tiny dinette with uncomfortable low back seats, like most RV dinettes. Works for a quick meal, but any bad weather or chillin inside and your gonna be uncomfortable. If that doesn’t matter to you, buy it, great TC’s.
  • Thanks for the responses. Part of the question is regarding overall build quality & how they hold up. All brands have their issues, I understand that. Really looking around on the web just not seeing much. The other part of the question is about that particular model.

We just got back from a quick road trip to the Portland, OR area to look at a used AF811 and ended up buying a ‘15 Adventurer 86SBS. Just comparing these two units, the 86SBS was pretty much loaded featurewise compared to a year older unit with very few options on the AF. Dealt with folks at Apache and were extremely pleased with that experience.

If anyone here has this model would like to here from you.

    Thanks!
  • I do not have specific information about your model but as a former owner of an Adventurer 80RB I also wondered about their build quality reputation. In the spring of 2017, Yoly and I spent weeks touring western Canada in ours. We were amazed at how many Adventurer Class C rental units we saw on the roads. We'd see a dozen a day easily, they were everywhere. We also saw several Adventurer truck campers on F150s that were rental units as well. The Class C rentals were far and away the most common rental unit on the highways and in the campgrounds. That experience gave me a bit of confidence in that they must be somewhat robust to handle that particular application. Also points to the amount of overall experience the company has in building and outfitting campers. Mind you, I doubt very much that this rental fleet was built in the Yakima WA facility. We were impressed with the build quality of ours but not so much in the care taken with component installation. Also found their famous "friction hinge" door to be problematic. But like you said, all brands have their pros and cons.
  • Thank You Travels with Yoly. We have heard some of the same about the number of RV rentals in “Canadia”.
