I mounted mine in the upper rear wall of the pass through, and poked the faceplate housing the switch and receptacles right through the front of the night stand next to my side of the bed. Cables went down through the floor and ran them through non-metallic Seal Tite right up to the battery to protect them from weather and road damage. sealed the minor clearance around the hole with expanding foam (water proof when cured). No issues in 8 years, but I admit I don't use it much. A lot of time and expense for little utility.
