I think Azdel can be a superior material for RV construction but there has to be some cost-to-benefit from a consumer's viewpoint. The largest benefit would be Azdel's impermeability to water. Basically, it's like having a big Tupperware shell.
The claims by Hanawha for insulation value and weight benefit should be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak. Yes, chopped fiberglass and polypropylene have a slight edge in weight and R-value but that needs to be put in the context of how it's used. An increase in R-value from .31 to .40 is an advancement but how is that going to effect the overall thermal properties and performance of the structure. The same can be said for the weight differences, a loss of 600 G/M2 is less but how many square meters are we talking about and is it significant?
I am always a sceptic when folks start talking in absolutes. Especially when the values are given by the Mfg. of a product. I've bought a lot "Brand New Tide" and sometimes the language exceeds the benefit.
