The 2020 Is a totally different truck than your 2015 was. I believe there is a significant difference in the suspension of the 2020 vs my ‘17 . As well, even though I don’t feel I need the benefit of a long box, the long box will tow nicer than a short box.

I just took a gander at Ford's '20 towing info and despite a 350 w/ the 12,400 pkg, it's cargo capacity is only 3751 lbs. In my case w/a pin of 3700, doesn't leave a whole lotta room for extra stuff. When I had the '15, it scaled out at 12,350 on truck w/ trailer so already over the 11,500 rating for that model year and if I went by the 12,400 rating (long box which I wouldn't want, but that's a different thing), I'd still be right on the border line. Yes I'm sure the newest trucks all have higher tow ratings, but when it comes to SRW and CCC, IMO, not a whole lotta wiggle room with a. pin of 3700 or close to it.

Diesel Price on same F-350 with $3K discount is about $64K or $10K more. I agree the diesel is a great engine (had a 400 ISL in my Monaco), but the 7.3 gas is a good option up to 16K. If you plan to tow over 16K, you clearly should have a diesel.

The diesel is about a 10k option. Duals are about 1300 and the 7.3 is about a 1700 option. So the Msrp of a SRW diesel will be about 7k more than the MSRP of the 7.3 dually. You should be able to negotiate at least 10% off MSRP which puts the difference at about $6300.

we drove back to Washington st from Az for Christmas in 2015 and 2016. 2 WD 05 chev dually in very poor conditions and never spun a tire. Drove 40 miles in snow unplowed miles and had to guess where the road was. That short cut was not short this time. Of course a 4x4 would have been better for the mind but we didn't have the issues many were having.

My 2020 Ford F350 long bed has the 12,400 GVWR. The yellow sticker payload is 4562. Our Pinnacle has a 15,500 GVWR and total weight is 14,700 fully loaded for a month long trip to the Rockies. Pin weight is 3120 and total weight on the truck is 3700. Best towing combination I have ever owned and that includes a couple of duallies in my past, the last being a 17 Ford F350 pulling a heavier Excel fifth wheel. Driving it is a little easier than the dually because of not having to account for the wide hips but it still won't fit length wise in most parking spots.

I'm almost the same with my 5W and SRW F350, never had and issue with stability. I do find I end up parking it the back 40 at most places we shop. The CCLB is long and does not fit in most painted parking stalls, DRW would be worse.

I agree , a SRW short bed F-350 diesel would do nicely . No need for training wheels on 15K GVWR. I presently tow a 15,500 GVWR fifth wheel without a problem with a SRW Ram 3500 .

I tow a 15k fiver with my 2017 short box and stay within the gvwr of the truck. The 2020 long box has a gvwr of 12400 lbs vs mine at 11500. He’d have absolutely no trouble with payload going with a 2020 srw f350 long box.
