My first few trucks with air brakes used copper for the air lines. Trucks run millions of miles with "hard plastic lines". If well supported, and rubber on the mounts should not be a issue.
On trucks, that have to go, and use lots of air, the only place they use braided stainless is right off the compressor, to deal with heat.
