Air Pressure for blowing out lines for winter

I know it is on here somewhere but what is the pressure to use for blowing out tank/lines for winterizing. I have a 150 lbs compressor but I think I remember that I need to adjust it to 25-30 lbs max for blowing out the lines?
  • 25-40 psi, AND, do it 2 or 3 times!! Water vapor will condense in the low spots and elsewhere in the lines!!!
  • But there's plenty of room for the remaining moisture to expand.

It doesn't need to be dry.
  • No labor costs, no parts costs, just some extra time to be sure you hit all lines and faucets!!! Of course with your tiny home, you could blow into the hose and take care of the lines!!!!!

I crank the regulator on my 150 psi compressor down to 25-35 psi for this task. Blowing out one water line at a time, it is unsual for this to empty the (not very large) tank, and if the compressor has to start running, it has enough output to maintain flow at this pressure setting. For his job, what you need is air volume, not pressure, since you are blowing out open lines and not building up pressure.

Off topic... Are you the voice-over guy?

Right to the point. Are you the new moderator?
  • From experience I would say it is less than what I used when I blew the check valve out in my camp water line connector.

My compressor is maxed out at 60 lbs.
  • I use a vacuum, you only need to get enough out to leave room for freeze expansion, like lung power as previously posted.
