This is something i've been thinking about as well. I have no doubt Sleepy's gutter works, to at least some extent, though I have my doubts that it will work exactly as described in every situation.
Laminar flow just isn't that predictable.
But, I have seen some newer cargo trucks with similar types of wind flow directors attached that would smooth out the airflow on the side of the truck lately. Of course, they don't have to worry about supercabs, and back doors, etc, but I think you could get bigger MPG gains by smoothing out the flow over the larger obstructions.
