"Tuner" for a V-10

I think it I was told about 30hp and 75 ft/lb torque. It was a noticeable difference to me the first trip with the tune installed.

ABSOLUTELY, DEFINITELY, WITHOUT QUESTION GO WITH THE TUNER!

Most of the people on here who are against it have never tried one. I use the SCT with the tuning by 5star on a 2011 V10.

As someone else pointed out... These things were set up absolutely STUPID when it came to cruise control. You would be cruising along at 55mph and would come to a *very* slight rise... The **** thing would downshift to like 2nd gear and rev up to the very top of the tach. Sounded like things just HAD to start coming apart under the hood.

It wouldn't do that when driving by the pedal.. only when driving with cruise. I was to the point I would take off the cruise every time I came up on a hill, then back on... then off... then on... then off...

After the tune, it would allow the RV to drop 4 or 5 mph before having to downshift, then it would only bump down 1 gear.

HIGHLY recommend. Probably THE best purchase I have made for the RV.

V-10s I have driven through mountain passes & all over since inception have performed well. You have to get used to the higher RPM & resultant higher pitched exhaust note, but they tend to be more or less bullet proof. I want another one sometime.

To those that don't need "more power".
If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand. Unless you're a Harley rider, they get it.

Does Brazels tuner do anything for the shift points or performance ?

We did the Brazel’s tune and it was a 100% total waste of money.
No change in performance or anything. Put it on a 2nd time, still no change.
Removed it, drove it. Reinstalled it again, no changes.
Total waste of money.

Being RV owners we all have a few unusual ideas concerning our rigs from the perspective of someone who doesn't enjoy this passion but to intentional change the engine program to such an extend as to require the use of fuel that will increase the cost per mile by 20% might be considered something beyond our special madness. And that would be on top of paying a couple of hundred dollars for the tuner. Definitely not something that would make a coach more marketable as part of an owner self sale.

OK..... There seems to be some misconceptions about tuners. First, when there are any changes to the ECU, it is logged with time, date, and ID code. This stays in the ECU until it it wiped, which means it is a completely blank. Ford put many blind allies in their programs to prevent hacking, and changing the program. Tuner companies put quite a bit of time going down the rabbit hole, to reach success. The changes to the fuel trim and timing curve must stay within some set parameters to prevent engine damage, and a long life. Some of the changes are in sample rates. I don't know what the factory sample rates were, but increasing the rate allows the engine to respond quicker. Fords full throttle, was not really Full Throttle, to keep emissions down and pressures in the engine, remember, the recommended oil was 5-20W, they are now moving toward 5-30W. After a few years of the tuners working wonders with Fords engines, they seemed to see the light, so to say, and allowed tuners to have access the the code bases, to improve engine performance and economy, while keeping within the emission standards. The catch was Ford could have access the these programs for their factory vehicles, and save the time and money that would be required to develop their own programs.
If any manufacture claims that an aftermarket part causes the failure, they must prove it in court. Granted, they will drag it out as long as legally possible. Cylinder pressures are influenced by a number of parameters other than compression ratio. Valve lift and timing, air fuel ratio, heat, and load are the main ones. Our Lincoln has a 2.0 L with a 12:1 ratio and guess what the owners manual says to use for fuel, good quality regulator unleaded.
If you contact the tuner with your VIN, and ask them if you will see any benefit from their tune, they are usually truthful, and will tell you the truth.
