I think we need to also look at the aerodynamics of the underside of the truck.

There is a lot to be gained there... but in the process you would likely lose a lot, or most of the benefits of being in a "Truck". IE clearance, etc. Some newer concept trucks have started coming out with automatically adjustable air dams, similar to the chrysler crossfire's little air spoiler, that come down when at freeway speeds.
Not optimal for "retrofitting" to current trucks though.

What about fairings from the front bumper... spring laaded to fold on contact... ?
And your earlier comment makes me think...
You wrote... As I said, it was taught while I was in school, College as well, so to me it was "fairly common" knowledge as I stated. Even when I went back to college about 10 years after graduating HS to take some adult education classes, some of these theories were still taught, so again, fairly common knowledge.
I wasn't taught the 48 mph theory at all... and they had to teach you over and over. :h
You seem to be very knowledgeable about these subjects... would you mind telling us if you do this for a living... or do you have a degree in aerodynamics? Then we can ask more approaite questions.
I usually share all that I know... or at least that I can remember.
There have been many very sharp people on the forum in the past... most of them refuse to post. They often keep the PMs, emails, and phone calls going on various subjects. I call on them for help... very often.
I try to stay connected... but it's often not worth it.
