Now... the Airfoil that I've been using and helping others with for the last 10 years is a compromize...
The shape of our trucks, and our campers are largely determined by their function. (I like the standard queen size bed... that forces us to have a barge, er... box)
I certainly don't want to change my truck or my campers functions.
In a world where mirrors and antennas are designed to minimize drag the least we can do is work on areas where we can make a difference...
My fuel economy went from 13.5 mpg to 15.1 mpg with my Airfoil modification.... and an attempt to drive an average 58 mph.
Othere have made changes that have probably made a bigger difference.
Even a little more here and there adds up.
Hauling 100 pounds of un-needed junk "costs' 1% in fuel economy... 500 pounds is a loss of 5% fuel economy (it may be cheaper to rent a bike than to haul it around for 6 months on the road)
It requires 22% more fuel to travel 75 mph than 55 mph.
A funny thing people worry about a few cents on a gallon of fuel but think nothing about loss of fuel economy due to speed or drag or weight.
