On my road travels this year I noticed quite a few 18-wheelers with a contraption on the back of the trailer. It looked like 4 triangles hinge mounted long side to the top sides and bottom with the points facing the rear opened to about 2 feet or so from the trailer back doors held in place with adjustable rods. I have seen in the past some with a permanently mounted 'bubble' on the back and I did notice that the turbulence behind them was smoother. I did not get a chance to drive behind the ones with triangles as they were going too fast for me. It makes sense to lower the draft behind the vehicle, that's why NASCAR drivers 'draft' it allows both vehicles to go faster.
just my feeble thoughts and observations. :E

I've got all of these lemons left over... maybe if I put some of them them a few inches apart on the edge... as far back as possible at the junction of the transom and sides of the boat... Maybe put some on the bottom at the junction of the edge at the transom too....
Maybe the turbulance they would cause would make some of the laminar flow flowing past the barge with a "V" hull to break up the drag behind the barge.
