- kohldadExplorer IIIOnly advantage to that site is he has some links to commercial maps for the same area without the digging. They are the same maps as provided by the NPS website however, some look to be screen shots capture because they are jpg instead of the native pdf format used by the NPS.
I'll use the NPS website so I'm getting the latest maps along with the alerts which could be for road or trail closures. - NMDriverExplorerNot all but many national park maps would be a better title for the site. Worth saving to my bookmarks though. Thanks for the link.
- d3500ramExplorer IIII have not used that website but I have several physical printed maps that are referenced in the link. I do not have the specific NP maps- only local and small region maps that are made by Trails Illustrated Map by National Geographic. These are high quality better-than-paper maps that can hold up to light moisture in the field.
The local ones that I have for locations of which I am very familiar seem to be quite accurate so if the website is anything like the print ones then it should be reasonably accurate as a single source. I will use these along with USGS and any locally available trail maps before heading into any kind of wilderness area. - rr2254545ExplorerLooks good to me and he differentiates between the various type of parks run by the National Park services, ie: parks, monuments, battlefields etc
- rv2goExplorer III would say that it is accurate. I was just in the Smokies, and the map is the same as the map in the Parks handout.
