The water pump will run regardless of polarity, check the connections as stated above, you most likely have the battery leads reversed. Fuses usually don't get blown with reverse polarity, but the electronics do not like it at all. The fuse to most likely blow, are the reverse polarity protection fuses in the convertor. Check for proper polarity!
