Alternative Generator For our campers

Given the limited space in truck campers and to avoid carrying gas I was wondering what people think about something like this:

Car Based power generator

They seem to have both a "1000" watt and a "2000" watt model though the later is pricy.

  • It’s just an inverter, some jumper cables, a strap to hang it from the car, and a weatherproof enclosure If you buy a weatherproof model. No battery. The vehicle has to run all the time.

The “inventor” says it’s ok to idle for 50-70 hours non-stop.

And if you buy now, you’ll get a set of steak knives. And a Chia Pet.

    Yep.
  • That is just a battery as best I can tell. Just get a better battery for the RV for less money, more power.
For actual generators I recommend solar first and secondly something like my Ryobi 700 watt propane burner.
  • Another gizmo who's called "generator" becouse it is designed to generate easy cash flow from customers wallet'
THOUSAND BUCKS for 1500W inverter OMG :E :E::E
I just bought 2000/4000W pure sine inverter for $90
  • $1390 for a 2000 watt?
I would just buy a Honda 2200, for me it would be more versatile.

  • I think solar makes more sense and also works when the TC is in storage. $395 plus seems like a lot.
  • You really want to run your truck engine for the length of time it takes to complete the absorption phase? Why won’t solar work most days? Not new. Not experimental.
