Aug 02, 2015No doubt the Airstreams are a beauty. They are a status symbol for many, and a conversation piece for others. However, they are not very practical, especially for full time living.
They have practically zero exterior storage space and very little inside. Do you really want to stuff your patio chairs, tables, BBQ, and miscellaneous items that are typically stored outside in the already cramped space inside?
The lack of slideouts will make you feel like the walls are closing in on you after extended periods of time. A slide out will give you an extra 2 to 4 feet of additional width that makes a world of difference in the inside.
Keep in mind if you want decent ground clearance the Airsteams sit relatively low compared to most other trailers.
Would I buy an Airstream? Yes, but not for full time living or for extended trips.
As other have mentioned, you can find quality travel trailers from other manufacturers that are much more versatile for a lot less money. If bling is what is important to you, look no further than Airstream. If you want a practical trailer for full time living, look elsewhere. Good luck!
