And the whole thing about frame concerns is a basic nonstarter. Someone looking for a good used trailer is not likely to ever run into it. And no one would bother with a conventional TT even at this early age.
Hitching isn't rocket science. It must be more akin to teeth pulling the way folks avoid wanting to learn. Conventionals don't last long enough to make a fair comparison. Whether hitching questions or design/build questions apply we'd be hard pressed to find a 20-year old conventional still racking up the miles.
My folks pulled their SS a couple hundred thousand miles over a quarter century. And that forty year old trailer is still on the road.
A ten year old AS is basically new. A white plastic box is on life support. There's zero reason to throw good money after bad as to the latter.
As to alternatives, if the OP wants to go back far enough (1995 and earlier) then AVION and SILVER STREAK both made trailers with large windows. There were changes over the years, but roughly 1965-1985 covers "classic" versions. I'd stick with 1973 and later for dual waste tanks. They did feature better construction and fewer were built. Less likely to leak. Cheaper to buy than a comparable AS, and will need less in repairs (once past the shared common items such as appliances).
These trailer types retain their value. Can't be said for the conventionals as they're no longer on the road or even registered/licensed.
