aluminum box for Champion 3100 generator

I just purchased a Champion 3100 generator, I am looking for an aluminum box to mount on the back of my travel trailer, I plan on extending and reinforcing the rear bumper to mount the box on. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find a box or how to mount the box.

No need, check out Mount-n-Lock products that allow you to leave the bumper as is but reinforce it's mounting to the trailer frame so it's suitable for supporting much heavier loads.
  • alenk, thanks for the response, do you have any pictures of the rack that you built on the tongue, I am going to replace the tinfoil back bumper, I have seen several pictures of what happens when to much weight is put on them, I dont need that happening on a trip.
  • I had a rack built that sits on the trailer tongue above the propane bottles, that holds my Champion 2400.
For a rear mounting of another rack, I had the tinfoil bumper removed, and a heavier four inch bumper installed, then I welded a receiver to the bumper and frame. (After that, one could mount any type of rack in the receiver.) I have a rack that is as long as the travel trailer is wide that mounts in that receiver, and also U-bolts to the ends of the heavy-duty bumper to stabilize it.
Any thing that you mount onto the rear bumper will need to be well thought out, because that cheap bumper an RV comes with won't hold safely much more than a spare tire rack.
  • I use a Geardeck 17. Google it. I just prop the top half lid open enough to clear the exhaust and I run the Champ as is sitting on the back cargo tray. The 17 is big enough to haul the 3100 and a couple small gas cans. The 3100 is quiet enough that I barely hear it inside.
