Champion 3100 generator.

I know there are a lot of posts about what certain generators will or won't do so I wanted to just put in my two cents on how impressed I was with it on our weekend trip. I was one that wanted two Hondas wanted to be able to run everything. Bounced back and forth between the Honda 3000 and the two 2000 setup. Eventually we had to weigh in on how much we would use it and realistically it would be two, maybe three times a year and we go to the beach here in California usually around March and April. Champion said it would power our 15k BTU A/C but I was skeptical. We decided to purchase it anyway. Last trip to the same location the remote start was awesome as we were in a terential downpoor. It was nice not having to go outside to pull start. This last trip it did end up getting hot enough that the inside of the trailer got pretty hot. The generator powered the A/C no problem. Didn't have to flip any breakers off or anything. The only thing was the 1.6 gallon tank ran for about 5 hours then ran out but u had a can of gas ready to go. I was very impressed.
  • I have that model too and it served me well for 4 days drycamping in Quartzite. Now I am tempted by their recently shipping Dual Fuel version. $850 @ Costco.
  • They are a very good generator. I had a Honda but after it died I bought a Champion, and I won't be going back to Honda.
  • We have the 3500 and love it. Side by side with the honda 4000 there is negligible noise difference and even then it depends what side of the genset you are on. I painted mine to avoid the "your generator is too noisy" comments. And besides why would someone want to steal my champion when in the same cg theres a honda or yamaha.
  • Hondas are nice but over priced, I'll take a Champion any time. I know this upsets the Red snobs.

I wouldn't call all Honda owners snobs, simply not true..As for over priced, how many other generators are on record for over 10-15,000 hours like the little Honda 2K?

I can see the occasional user not wanting to spend the few hundred more dollars but for some like my self,I need one that last forever and is dependable no matter what condition and the two Honda's I have do just that....

I currently have a 4000XL generac/Onan 4K/1200 watt 2-cycle/2000 watt Honda and 3000 watt Honda and have owned Yamaha/Power Sport/Briggs and Stratton and a couple others I can't remember now...

The Honda 3K is the best of the bunch with the Honda 2K next in my opinion having put thousands of hours on generators living off grid and I am not knocking the Champion, just saying for some it works for others maybe not!

x2 on the Honda's.. had a 2k for many years, now I have a Boliy 3600, it's a Chinese Yamaha knock off, the internals are literally identical to the Yamaha. Some people despise them but I have quite a few thousand hours on it and it's never let me down. It was also one third the price of the Yamaha..
  • I have had a Champion 3100 for going on 2 years now. I'm about to order another one to hook them together.
  • Only thing that sucks is it looks like they have gone away with the 3100 and upgraded it to a 3500. Wish I was in the market for one.
