Welcome to half ton RVing! I had a 2003 F-150 Supercrew when I bought my TT 4 years ago. I never weighed the truck with TT, but did many times getting landscape materials. I have been up to 1500 pounds over GVWR for the short trip home. :) With the TT I estimated I was at 0-500 pounds over GVWR depending on the trip. Family, tongue weight, and a bed full of camping gear/bikes/firewood/etcc. My truck performed great and we kept it for 2 towing seasons. The motivator for replacing it was 3 rows of seats to separate the kids. F-150 just like our 3/4 ton Burb is comfortable up to 75mph with my WDH properly adjusted.
