I finally weighed my rid today and am wondering if I have exceeded my GVWR. The sticker on my door for my 04 dodge ram 1500 says GVWR 6650. The weight of my truck with camper hooked up and two passengers is 6500. The camper weight while hooked to truck was 5550 and combined weight at 12050. Does this really mean I only have 150lbs to play with for the GVWR? Thanks

Yes, your really close. :(Your tires are probably the biggest factor. You could replace those with LT's for a little more margin.BTW, where did you get it weighed? I've found that places like the trash dump and places that sell landscaping materials are often way off.

It goes by your axle weight.. What does it say in the door jam for each axle?How do you know your weights? Did you goe to a scale?You need three weights..Truck onlyTruck and trailer W/O WD hitch activatedtruck and trailer with W/D hitch activated...Then you can tell what your dealing with...From that you can figure everything you need to know..Other wise your guessing...period IMO

With a smaller type trailer it is often easy to rearrange the loading, taking some of the weight off of the tongue. This may get you a few more pounds you can load and have the trailer axles carry it instead of the truck. Just move heavier items closer to the rear.

Thanks to all that responded! I got it weighed at a Travel America Cat scale. However, I did not weigh the truck by itself or the camper by itself. My front GAWR is 3650 and rear is 3900. I did think I needed to weigh everything seperate. Funny about the pop corn comment. The truckers were looking at me funny.

Yep sounds like 150lbs is what`s left. I`de say you`re good to go! how long have you been towing with that setup? just because you weighed it doesn`t mean that now it`s gonna be unsafe. if your concerned, put some LT "C" rated tires on it and enjoy!

The best and most accurate are certified scales that are found in a truckstop and they will give you the front, rear, and combined weight with and without your TC but that will require two trips.

That's a pretty straight forward question. Yeah, you are about 150 lbs. from being over your GVWR.

With a Ram you run out of payload long before you get to the rear axle rating.
