Gas engines don't need an exhaust brake. They do naturally what a diesel needs a exhaust brake to do.
A modern gas engine with it port fuel injection does not have anywhere near the eng braking power of a modern diesel with an exhaust brake - which is well over 250. This is especially true of a small displacement V6 like the EB.
Since the OP is in Wyoming I'm guessing he does a fair amount of mountain driving and the diesel with it's superior torque and braking would have made the experience a lot nicer. But the EB will have no problem doing the job either.
