If it were me, I know I would regret the decision. The EB will not tow nearly as well as your diesel (it has about half the torque) and I think you be disappointed when you put your foot down or if you tow in the mountains, with the stopping power and lack of exhaust brake.
Gas engines don't need an exhaust brake. They do naturally what a diesel needs a exhaust brake to do.
A modern gas engine with it port fuel injection does not have anywhere near the eng braking power of a modern diesel with an exhaust brake - which is well over 250. This is especially true of a small displacement V6 like the EB.
Since the OP is in Wyoming I'm guessing he does a fair amount of mountain driving and the diesel with it's superior torque and braking would have made the experience a lot nicer. But the EB will have no problem doing the job either.
My little 5.4 has no problem holding back my TT on the downhill. I was merely saying that the gas engine does hold back the load without adding anything on, Whereas the diesel has to have a add on to do the same thing.
There's nothing to add on anymore. Every modern HD diesel has the ex brake built into the turbo (VGT).
That is great. I have thought ever since I had to bring a 18 wheeler down the mountain with out one. That every diesel should be required to have one. Should not even be an option.
