For what it's worth, I have a 2013 Passport 2910BH and I tow it with a 2011 Sierra 1500 5.3/3.42, you'll be fine as your Ecoboost has much more torque than my 5.3 and at least if not more payload(my yellow sticker says 1568lbs payload). You just have to put a little thought into where your cargo is loaded. I put heavy stuff like coolers in the bike door, etc. (traveling with a 1/2 cord of firewood in the bed is not an option).
