I drive 50-75 miles every day. The exhaust cleaning issue for short commutes would drive me crazy due to the poor performance while cleaning. Then you have to find a nice 10-20 mile run to get it to complete the cycle. I would have to sell the truck if I only had the 5 mile commute.
Our 2014 runs its cleaning cycle in less than a minute and has no noticeable effect on performance. My wife drives the truck to work every day (about 20 miles) on the freeway.
My brother has a 2013 F-350 diesel he drives on short trips and has never complained about poor performance during the cleaning cycle. I'll try to remember to ask him tomorrow. Oh, and he drives it year around in sub freezing temps and it does well. Older diesels had problems in cold weather and the new ones do much better.
