OK. I asked my brother about this today. He has a 2014 F350 and before this he had 2013 F250 both with the Diesel. He says the performance is slightly decreased when it's doing it's cleaning cycle but, it's such a small amount of performance decrease that you hardly notice it. He also says it doesn't do it that often and he does a lot of short trip driving. However, he says the neighbor has a similar truck and their cleaning cycle was happening all the time and it sucked so they took it to the dealer where they had to do a change to it in some way because it had a problem. So, maybe if your truck is doing that all the time you should take it in. He also says that there is someway to turn this cleaning cycle on manually so you can let it set in your driveway and idle for 10-15 minutes to do the cycle. He doesn't know how to do it though because he has never found a need to do this.
