Am I going to regret my decision?

I sold my 2010 F350 Diesel and purchased a 2013 F150 Platinum with the Ecoboost and Max Tow package. My trailer is a Passport 2910BH that has a GVWR of 8000lbs.

The diesel was a little overkill for my trailer, but it was nice to have all the extra power while pulling the trailer. But camping season is relatively short in Canada, and it doubled as my daily driver to work(only a 5km commute). So, It became a bit of a PITA to use a commuter vehicle, as the Diesel Particulate filter always needed a good run to get it cleaned out.

The F150 is so much nicer to drive around town, but am I going to be sorry once camping season begins?

  • If it were me, I know I would regret the decision. The EB will not tow nearly as well as your diesel (it has about half the torque) and I think you be disappointed when you put your foot down or if you tow in the mountains, with the stopping power and lack of exhaust brake.
  • Just ask yourself this: How did the F-150 start this morning?

Running a diesel F-350 for commuting is an economic catastrophe. There are a host of reasons why your new F-150 EB will be better for you, especially if you're only using the camper for vacationing.

Forget the remorse, just look out the window at your new rig and think on how you're going to keep it clean and shiny.:B

BTW, have all the mods figured out yet (cameras, GPS, CB, mudflaps, etc.)??
  • It's pushing it. I would rather have a truck that is well able to pull than just barely able to pull. Been that route before. Burned up 2 engines.
  • I"d say enjoy your new truck!!! Sounds like you already are.
    That's all that really counts.

It will pull it all over those rolling hills you have out there ;), and if you ever decide to head to the Coast, don't worry, you will easily get to the top of the ranges just like everybody else.

    Cheers,
