Years ago when propane tanks had no automatic valves, I had one of those attendants filling my 5 gallons portable tank.
He never open the bleeding valve and kept on filling up the tank till the station pump stopped becouse of pressure build.
He was arguing with me that he "knows what he is doing".
I carefully loaded the tank to back storage on my motorhome and after careful drive home, drained some of the propane to another tank.
Bare in mind that gas station attendant are people who got fired from burger flipping jobs.
