Overcast days and camping in the shade are only part of the solar issue. For much of the year the days are short and the sun is low. The available sunlight is marginal and it takes a massive solar system to compensate.
I do wish I had an efficient charging system. Trying to replace my existing unit looks like a very big job. Overall I would just prefer a propane refrigerator.
